Mood Board Monday: Farmhouse Kitchen edition
This week’s Mood Board Monday was inspired by you! When my followers asked for a farmhouse-inspired kitchen, I wanted to create something that honoured that traditional, homey charm — but with a fresh, contemporary twist.
Think: warm timbers, brushed brass finishes, leafy florals, and a rich green palette grounded by Dulux’s Pesto. It’s all about bringing together tactile materials and earthy tones for a look that feels grounded, minimal, and welcoming. No kitch kitchens here!
So, what is Modern Farmhouse?
Modern Farmhouse takes the cosy comfort of traditional rural homes and gives it a sleek, stylish upgrade. The result? A space that feels lived-in but elevated — relaxed, but refined.
To get the look:
Blend natural textures: timber, leather, rattan, and stone.
Pair warm metal tones like antique and brushed brass — mixing metals is fine, but keep your fixtures (like tapware and cabinet pulls) consistent, ideally from the same range for cohesion.
Add softness and pattern with florals, either in wallpaper, fabric, or styling touches.
Gingham and check can also work beautifully with this Design Style, but be careful to not go overboard and create too much of a “theme”.
