I’m inspired by the Australian lifestyle and landscape — organic, effortless, and a little playful. Mid-century design also holds a special place in my heart — I’m a little obsessed with timber, the curve of a beautiful chair leg, and the practicality of well-made, timeless pieces.

My interiors are layered and personal — curated with unique finds, character pieces and thoughtful styling (I’m a bowerbird at heart!). I believe in balance: sometimes it’s about letting the natural beauty of the materials speak, and sometimes it’s about adding a joyful pop of colour or a standout feature.

Hi! I’m Emma, an interior designer passionate about creating spaces that feel as good as they look. I believe your home should reflect your personality and support your wellbeing — and I love helping people craft spaces that feel calm, welcoming and uniquely theirs.

My design philosophy centres on how colour and texture make us feel. I lean toward soft, layered palettes inspired by nature — think earthy tones, organic materials, and subtle contrasts — to create a sense of ease and flow throughout the home. I want you to walk into each room and simply feel good being there.

My path into interiors wasn’t a straight one. I studied Arts and Education, taught for over a decade, and ran several product-based businesses that allowed me to explore my love of design. Along the way, I discovered that what I truly loved was creating beautiful, functional spaces — and helping others do the same. I’m currently completing a Diploma of Interior Design and bringing this passion to life through The Deane Studio.

Before founding The Deane Studio, I ran several small businesses focused on product design — from textiles to sustainable party goods — where I developed a deep understanding of colour, pattern and form. These experiences taught me the importance of thoughtful design and gave me the confidence to pursue my passion for interiors full time.

Now, I’m here to help you create spaces you love to live in — with warmth, creativity, and a little design magic.
